Architecture and Atmosphere
Constructed from natural stone, Can Mira sits quietly among ancient pine trees in the rural north of Ibiza. The architecture respects traditional island design while incorporating modern comforts like central heating and air conditioning. Inside, the interiors rely on soft, muted tones that allow the personally curated art collection to stand out against the raw stone walls.
The atmosphere here is deliberately slow and grounded. With no immediate neighbours visible through the trees, the property offers a high degree of privacy. The layout encourages a natural flow between the indoors and the expansive grounds, making it easy to keep an eye on younger guests while preparing food or resting by the open fireplace.
Living Spaces and Grounds
The main living area is an open-plan space anchored by a large L-shaped sofa and a traditional fireplace. This room flows directly into the dining zone and a fully fitted kitchen, which centres around a practical preparation island. Large windows look out towards a wisteria-framed porch, bringing the deep greens of the forest inside.
Sleeping arrangements are divided between the main house and a separate guesthouse. The primary building contains four bedrooms, including a master suite with its own sitting room and terrace access. A second double bedroom opens onto a balcony, sharing a full bathroom with the master. Two additional bedrooms feature French double beds and en-suite shower rooms. The independent guesthouse provides a fifth bedroom and bathroom for those requiring slightly more separation.
Outside, the grounds are vast and meticulously maintained. A large swimming pool is bordered by a stone terrace, shaded sun loungers and a thatched daybed. Beyond the pool, the gardens feature precisely cut lawns, tall palm trees, bright bougainvillea and winding paths that lead into the surrounding woodland.
Family Life at the Villa
Can Mira is specifically set up for families, ideally accommodating up to six adults and four children, with a strict maximum of eight adults. The house works exceptionally well for multi-generational groups who need both shared social spaces and private corners to retreat to. The property is fully gated, providing a secure environment for younger guests to explore.
A typical day often revolves around the extensive outdoor amenities. While adults read on the shaded terrace or prepare lunch on the barbecue, children have the run of a private football pitch, a trampoline and a tree house built into the pines. Evenings usually conclude with al fresco dining under the stars, making the most of the dark, clear skies that define this part of the island.
Exploring the Northern Hills
The villa is located in the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja, just four kilometres from the tiny inland hamlet of San Lorenzo. This area is highly regarded for its rural character, offering absolute peace and minimal light pollution for stargazing. Despite the secluded woodland setting, practical amenities are close at hand, with a local supermarket just four kilometres away.
When you wish to leave the property, the lively village of Santa Gertrudis is 5.5 kilometres down twisting country roads, offering organic grocers, artisan homewares and excellent cafes. The coastal town of Santa Eulalia is 6.5 kilometres away, while the capital, Ibiza Town, is a straightforward 12-kilometre drive. For a day by the sea, the northern coves, including the famous sands of Benirràs, are easily accessible from this central inland base.
